The Version Switcher — "Control which API versions appear in site's version dropdown." — maps a project's published versions to the portal: "draft versions are deliberately never listed in a public dropdown". With none: "This project has no published versions yet…"
URL structure
| Scheme | Example |
|---|---|
| Subdirectory (default) | docs.example.com/v2.4.1 |
| Subdomain | v2-4-1.docs.example.com — needs wildcard DNS and a certificate |
| Query param | docs.example.com?v=2.4.1 |
The examples use a placeholder domain; the site's own is set on Custom domain.
Published versions
A table of Version, Label (the dropdown text), URL path, Latest alias (a radio) and
Enabled (a switch). The newest version starts as latest, labelled "vX.Y (latest)". The page
refuses to build with no version enabled, no latest chosen, a missing label, a label or path used
twice, or latest used as a path.
The Dropdown preview shows the dropdown as it appears in the site header, and where the latest alias resolves: the alias URL, "redirects to", the target.
Build
Build versioned ZIP builds every enabled version from its live catalog into one bundle, each in
its own directory, with a working dropdown and a latest/ redirect; it refuses and names any
version whose catalog fails to load. Save & Rebuild — saving the map to the site and rebuilding
in place — is disabled until hosted deploy targets exist. The map lasts for the session.
